Meet the Founder
After graduating from the ‘Gemological Institute of America’, Suhani Pittie returned to India with her head brimming with ideas and a burning desire to establish her own training institute in gemology which would travel across the country. At the mere age of twenty, this dream came to life and thus began her journey. She moved to Hyderabad a few years later upon her marriage and continued to pursue her passion from this city. What started initially as a love for gemology moved into jewellery purely by destiny.
In 2012, The World Gold Council listed Suhani as one of the top 10 most inventive and ingenious jewellery designers in the world. Her pieces are here to tell a story. They are an anecdote of the nostalgia of the past, a nod to the present we live in and a future that redefines Indian Jewellery as we know it. Each piece of jewellery is carefully created with traditional handcraft techniques, paying attention to every little detail. The resulting piece is authentic, timeless and unforgettable. Over the last two decades, Suhani’s ability to masterfully intertwine tradition and modernity in her jewellery earned her a loyal client base all around the world.
Dynamic, Inventive and more
Over the years, Suhani Pittie has received both national and international recognition for the work she does. She was named The “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year 2017” by Retail Guild, India, and earned ‘The Young Women Achievers Award 2012’ for her contribution to fashion by YFLO (Young FICCI Ladies Organization). She was awarded the very prestigious ‘Artisan Award 2015’ by GJEPC and the ‘Singem Award for Excellence’ for gemology. The New Indian Express awarded her the ‘Devi Award’ for Innovation & Dynamism. Her contemporary take on traditional handcraft techniques earned her the the GJTCI Award of Excellence, awarded by the Governor of Karnataka himself. She was featured in the “35 most powerful women in India, under 35” list and was highlighted in the Fortune magazine for being one of the five people to watch out for, in India.
Passionate Foundation recognized her as one of the youngest youth icons in Joint Andhra Pradesh. Suhani’s talent earned her recognition in Vogue Italia as one of the 5 designers to watch out for from India and Grazia featured her in the ‘Cool list of 30’. Suhani’s work was also recognized in Hi! Blitz Magazine which enlisted her as 1 of India’s Top 50 Game Changers. Suhani was also awarded the Audi Ritz Icon 2012 award by the German vehicle brand Audi and the renowned Ritz Magazine.
In the spotlight
Suhani is no stranger to fashion weeks. Infact, she’s the first Indian jewellery designer who was invited to Miami Fashion Week when she was just 25. The Museum of Arts and Design, New York subsequently commissioned her work.
Pained by the worldwide displacement crisis, the designer channelled her emotions into creating the ‘Nowhere People’ jewellery collection which was featured in Lakme Fashion Week and earned worldwide recognition for Suhani’s thought provoking and gut wrenching interpretation of this crisis.
Bollywood’s most beloved stars like Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Anushka Sharma are often seen sporting her jewellery. As the L’Oreal ambassador, Sonam Kapoor has been wearing Suhani’s jewellery for 7 consecutive years at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
In 2009, her work was chosen by the British Council to represent India. It was handpicked to be showcased at The Young Fashion Entrepreneur Award ‘09 hosted by the British Council. The audience included Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Maharaja Gaj Singh Ji at the Bal Samand Lake Palace, Jodhpur.
Not just a jewellery designer
Readers of Deccan Chronicle, The Telegraph and Indian Express got an inside look at the designer’s mind where Suhani was a columnist. Readers of Femina get a chance to soak in her words since she is a regular contributor of the magazine. Suhani’s jewellery was featured on Style.com which is one of the most prestigious fashion websites. According to Economic Times, she is one of the most promising contemporary designers in the country. The World Crafts Council extended an invitation to Suhani as a speaker at the esteemed World Crafts Council 2011 event held in New Delhi.
Collaborations and Commissions
The designer has collaborated with popular brands like Nykaa, Myntra, Jaypore, Taj group, Swarovski to name a few. Swarovski commissioned her to create exclusive designs for their 10th anniversary celebrations in India, which were held at the Austrian Embassy.
Travel and lifestyle channel, TLC, featured her work on their show, Oh My God, where Suhani was also chosen as a co-host with celebrity Lisa Ray for their Hyderabad episode. Airtel and Hyderabad Runners commissioned her to design the prestigious 2017 marathon medal (Airtel Hyderabad Marathon) commissioned. She was also chosen to work with Veteran artists like ThotaVaikuntam , Shakti Burman, anjolie Ela Menon to convert their miniature paintings into jewellery.
For the love of jewellery
Nestled in Banjara Hills, Suhani’s flagship store in Hyderabad has garnered quite some attention, winning her awards for both her fashionable jewellery and her handcrafted lifestyle products which exude comfort. According to Condenast Traveller and Lonely Planet, the store is a “must visit” destination in Hyderabad.
